Description of the tour

Visit one of the world’s most valued landmarks, located in the heart of Montjuïc. On this tour, you’ll be able to skip the line & explore its most famous pieces with the help of an engaging guide.

For art history buffs the  Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya  (MNAC) is the place to visit in Barcelona. Housing an impressive collection of Catalan art from the 12th to the 20th centuries, the Museum is a firm overview of Spanish art through the ages.

The highlight is undoubtedly the Romanesque collection, which has been hailed among the best in the world. Recently, the Museum added an extra floor to include the famed Thyssen-Bornemisza collection (Fra Angelico’s ‘Madonna of Humility is pictured) and the Modernista work, which was previously held in the Museum of Modern Art.

The Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) is located in the Palau Nacional of Montjuïc, which was built for the International Exposition of 1929.

On your visit to the museum, you can admire the world’s best collection of Romanesque Art. See the biggest and oldest mural and panel paintings in Europe, plus metalwork and sculptures in wood and stone.

Also, you’ll have the opportunity to see the works of artists of Catalan Modernism, including Gaudí and Casas. Admire masterpieces by great European Renaissance and Baroque painters, such as Tiziano and Velázquez. See the museum’s collection of photography as well.

The collections are displayed on 2 floors and you should plan on spending a couple of hours at the museum to ensure that you have time to see it all. In addition to exploring the collections, you’ll have a chance to learn about the history of the building. Afterward, you can head up to the rooftop, which is the perfect spot for enjoying panoramic views of the city.

The MNAC offers an impressive collection and is a must-see when exploring Barcelona’s art scene.

Your local guide will be an expert on the Museum who will share a mix of historical information, scandalous stories, and surprising details with you.

Terrific tour guide Anna!

Anna gave a very informative and interesting overview of Picasso & his artwork. We so appreciated her
tour as we would not have had such a positive experience and understanding of Picasso’s art career
touring the museum on our own.

FAQ about regular tours

What is a regularly scheduled tour?

A regularly scheduled tour is a tour that we do with scheduled departures. You buy your ticket for a specific day and time and you will share the tour with other people. We care about the quality of our tours, so you will never find mass groups. If many people sign up, we divide the group into two. In the case of the Slow Gothic Tour, you will never find more than 12 people. In the rest of our regular tours, the maximum is 22 people.

What do you need to do a regularly scheduled tour?

Once the reservation is made, you only have to show up at the meeting point at the indicated time.

We recommend wearing comfortable shoes because the tour is on foot. If it’s summer, maybe a bottle of water or something to refresh you may also come in handy.

How can I customize the experience?

This tour can not be customized because it is a regular tour. If you want to do it exclusively you can contact us and customize it to your liking: choose the day, the time and the number of people or change part of the route and include another stop or monument. We will answer you and we can follow the process.
