In tourism it is said that the experiences are not created, but they are found

We suggest a new tour thought day by day from our own walks.

What does Slow mean?

For us, above all, it means love for things well done, closeness, humanity, and authenticity. In the face of fast food tourism, stress and exhaustion, we desire to offer a more authentic way of relating to the environment and the people who inhabit it.

Slow Gothic Tour

Did you get tired of your last trip? The queues to access the monuments, the flags of the cruise passengers, the umbrellas of the tours… Have you generated stress when traveling?

Following the Slow Travel philosophy, we propose this Slow Tour that besides being sustainable and respectful with the city, is a proposal that seeks to offer a kind of leisurely tourism, away from the crowds to be able to pay full attention and experience how the first tourist should do it , the sensation of discovering the heritage, the food and the local culture in the most genuine way possible

This tour is not a classic, it is a “timeless” route, without following a chronological order. We propose you to know a part of Ciutat Vella, the heart of the city, the oldest nucleus and one of the most beautiful areas of Barcelona.

Born over the remains of the Roman Barcino, medieval Barcelona led to the construction of churches and Gothic palaces that led to the disappearance of most of the Romanesque remains. Its narrow and labyrinthine medieval streets make up the ideal scenario to enjoy the city center without hurry, reveling in the remains that are preserved from the glorious past of the city.

What are we going to show you? Special sites, full of history, with charm and authentic, because they are places lived by the people who lived and live in the neighborhood, and also unknown to the general public.

In addition to a pleasant gastronomic surprise during the tour, we will also take the opportunity to taste a snack in a very special place, connected with the art, quietness and charm of Gothic architecture. We will not miss, if you wish, a good chat with our guide. The tour ends in the most tourist area, where you can visit on your own the monuments that you like.

Ready to discover the real Barcelona?

If you do not like conventional speeches of guides who repeat the same script day after day, Slow Gothic Tour is what you are looking for.

To start, this tour is restricted. You will never find more than 15 people. So you divide the guide’s expense but you still have a very exclusive experience: you can ask the guide everything you want and listen directly without microphones or speakers in between.

Slow Gothic Tour is not a »classic tour». It is a timeless route that without following a chronological order proposes you to know special places, full of history, with a lot of charm and above all: authentic. Churches, monuments, stories and streets that are unknown even to many residents of Barcelona.

The road takes you, for 3km. through the winding streets of the neighborhoods of La Ribera, El Born and the most unknown Gothic area. You will know a part of the old town, the heart of the city and the oldest and most beautiful center of Barcelona.

Occasionally a pleasant gastronomic surprise awaits you during the tour and to end a good gathering with the guide in a quiet cafe under the stillness and charm of Gothic architecture.

What does the  Slow Gothic Tour include?

  • Official local guide Expert and eager to answer all your questions.
  • Small group It is a regular tour but limited 15 people.
  • End on a terrace to do some gathering Gastronomy KM.0 (a surprise tasting awaits you)

Heald FamilyBrcelona and the Jewish Heritage. 2-6-2015

The only tour where you can sit and chat with the guide.

We are interested in meeting you We do not want to offer you a typical tour to explain the typical things about the city in an anonymous and impersonal way.

On this tour, you will not feel like one more tourist of the bunch anymore. We explain a lot of interesting stories about the past and present of the city. Stories that go beyond dates and architectural styles. Stories of people who lived here before us, before you came to know the city: workers, merchants, nuns, postmen, citizens who lived in Barcelona and who have contributed to making it what it is today.

But we also want to know you. Therefore, at the end of the tour, you can sit down and share a coffee with our guide. You will have the chance to tell him that you are interested and to tell you more about Barcelona.

We do not like rush and in this tour, we take it easy.

What will you see in the Slow Gothic Tour?

Santa Maria del Mar and Montcada street

Many people know Santa Maria del Mar. But not as we explain it to you here. A church for the town built in only 53 years by the citizens of Barcelona. Do you know why the Virgin at the entrance looks towards Montcada Street? Tradition says that the Virgin saved the life of a craftsman unjustly condemned to death.

Slow Gothic Tour

Ribera’s neighborhood

An unknown church with more than 1000 years of history. In 1714 it was under siege for more than a year and the nuns who lived in the convent threw the furniture out of the window to try to stop the attackers. Today, the area of the Church is one of the most authentic and charming neighborhoods in the old part of the city. The surrounding shops will make you fall in love with.

Slow Gothic Tour fuente Sants Just i Pastor

 Just and Pastor saints

Was the Ark of the Covenant hidden in this Forgotten Cathedral? A few steps from the Cathedral of Barcelona and Plaza Sant Jaume is the Basilica of Saints Just and Pastor. A place of 2,000 years of history with much to tell. The square where it is located preserves the oldest fountain in the city. The water came directly from Collserola mountain.

Soy de Barcelona y nunca pensé que descubriría tantas cosas de mi ciudad. Hice el tour porque una amiga mía me habló de él y sinceramente me sorprendió cuanto me queda por descubrir.

FAQ about the Slow Gothic Tour

What is a regularly scheduled tour?

A regularly scheduled tour is a tour that we do with scheduled departures. You buy your ticket for a specific day and time and you will share the tour with other people. We care about the quality of our tours, so you will never find mass groups. If many people sign up, we divide the group into two. In the case of the Slow Gothic Tour, you will never find more than 12 people. In the rest of our regular tours, the maximum is 22 people.

What do you need to do a regularly scheduled tour?

Once the reservation is made, you only have to show up at the meeting point at the indicated time.

We recommend wearing comfortable shoes because the tour is on foot. If it’s summer, maybe a bottle of water or something to refresh you may also come in handy.

How can I customize the experience?

This tour can not be customized because it is a regular tour. If you want to do it exclusively you can contact us and customize it to your liking: choose the day, the time and the number of people or change part of the route and include another stop or monument. We will answer you and we can follow the process.
